Little Chef has become the latest in a line of food retailers to roll out Barclaycard contactless technology.

The rollout, across its 173 restaurants across the UK, also covers Little Chef’s Coffee Tempo brand and Burger King franchises.

The restaurant group said that the new technology will make paying more convenient for busy travellers stopping at its roadside restaurants.

The technology allows customers to pay for purchases worth up to £15 without having to sign or enter a pin on a payment terminal. Customers just need to hold their card over the contactless terminal, and the Chip and PIN technology will automatically record the transaction.

Last week, Co-operative Foods and AMT Coffee also announced a pilot and full rollout, respectively, of the technology in their stores.
