Virgin Media Business has brought in a Vodafone and former Nortel man to become managing director.
Peter Kelly will become managing director from 16 September 2013. Kelly will report directly to Tom Mockridge, CEO of Virgin Media, and will be part of the group executive committee.
Kelly has spent the last five years at Vodafone, "leading the transformation of its enterprise division", said Virgin.
Mockridge said: "Despite the economic challenges currently facing our public sector and private enterprise customers, the business-to-business market offers big long term opportunities for us. Peter is the right person to have on board to accelerate Virgin Media Business’s growth and challenge the incumbents in this market.”
Kelly said: “The company has already made huge strides forward in establishing itself as the main challenger to BT in business telecoms. I’m looking forward to taking the business on the next part of its journey, with growth and innovation at the forefront of my focus.”
Tony Grace, interim managing director at Virgin Media Business, will continue in his role until Kelly joins in September, at which time Grace will return to his previous position as chief operating officer of the business division.
Previously to Vodafone, Kelly was president for enterprise EMEA at Nortel, responsible for a $900 million (£600) enterprise business.
