The US Defense Information Systems Agency has appointed four new contractors to the Encore II network project, taking total expenditure to $12.2 billion (£6.2 billion) over five years.
The contracts concern systems for command, control, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, for the Department of Defense.
CSC, Unisys, Northrop Grunman and IBM have been awarded the four new contracts. Federal Computer Week reports that last year, while 10 providers were given deals, CSC, Unisys, Northrop Grumman and IBM were not, and had protested that DISA had failed to evaluate their offers properly.
The new contractors will work alongside the existing 10 suppliers BAE Systems, Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI International, EDS, Jacobs Technology, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Science Applications and SRA International.
