A UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) partner is running a masterclass to help storage administrators better understand the storage tier.
James Morle, a founder of the OakTable and consultant at Scale Abilities, aims to educate users in the theory and practice of storage during the two-day seminar. The masterclass will also help users to communicate well with their colleagues when there are problems.
"The storage tier is often shrouded in mystery, frequently managed by other teams, and more often than not performing very badly. This seminar aims to deconstruct the storage tier and demystify the operation of the myriad components within it," said UKOUG.
On the first day of the seminar, Morle will cover the theory around storage, including the basics, connectivity and the physics of disk storage.
Users are then invited to bring their laptops (with Oracle installed) to take part in the more practical sessions of the second day, to try out some of the diagnostic techniques Morle will present.
The 'Understanding Storage Masterclass' will take place at Prospero House in London on 24-25 April 2012. UKOUG members will be able to save £100 off the course price.
