TNT Express is upgrading its in-cab mobile worker technologies across its UK-wide fleet.

Under a contract with Peak-Ryzex, the supply chain and field service mobile specialist will manage more than 10,000 devices, including 2,500 new Motorola Solutions PDAs.

The mobile worker technology will provide high-speed wireless connections between TNT Express’ depots and drivers, while giving greater access to real-time tracking information.

Alistair Cochrane, TNT Express UK managing director, said: “Upgrading our mobile working technologies and connectivity with drivers will further improve the efficiency of our network.

"The more real-time information we have about where packages are, and the quicker we can deliver them, the better the service we provide to our customers.”

Peak-Ryzex acquired mobility provider Movilitas Consulting earlier this year to bolster its mobile offering.

Last year, TNT Express said it had "completely refreshed" its aging Teradata data storage systems, as the amount of data it was holding had increased tenfold in five years.
