Standard Life has begun using Cisco WebEx web conferencing, with the aim of improving its sales pitches to large clients.

The insurance and pensions provider said that using the system, called Meeting Center, it is now able to add visual aids and presentations to standard sales calls and demonstrate online services to potential customers.

By making presentations to a number of prospective clients simultaneously, Standard Life is able to target five percent more firms, it estimated.

The system is used by 40 sales staff, each of whom already has around 100 clients.

Lawrence Cook, national sales manager at the firm, said: “By taking advantage of WebEx’s ability to share visual aids, we’re able to make calls much more memorable and engaging.”
