Insurance giant RSA, formerly known as Royal Sun Alliance, has expanded its application outsourcing agreement with Accenture.
RSA CIO James de Watteville is to roll out the Accenture Insurance Solution product into the personal lines division of RSA which includes well known insurance brand More Than.
Accenture and RSA began working together in 2003, with Accenture providing development, implementation and maintenance of IT applications for RSA UK in its commercial insurance product lines.
Accenture is already responsible for the claims processing, customer relationship management (CRM), policy management and back office support.
RSA uses a number of Accenture developed systems, including its Insurance Solution and the Accenture Claim Components system.
In addition to its technology alliance with the insurer, Accenture provides business process outsourcing (BPO) services to RSA.
These include customer service and back office functions to the sales, claims, customer accounts, support and broking areas of the RSA business
RSA CIO de Watteville said he hopes the new deal will lead to “significant cost reductions”. He went on, “The expanded agreement reflects Accenture’s role as a reliable business partner”.
RSA appointed de Watteville as CIO in May last year and he has been leading a transformation programme of IT backed by major investment into the company’s infrastructure. As well as this deal, he has also re-negotiated deals with IBM since becoming CIO.
