Pertemps, which claims to be one of the UK’s largest independently owned recruitment agencies, has completed a project to automate administration in its own human resources department using Northgate technology.
The company implemented Northgate’s MyView all-round HR software over the last year to help it automate processes in the HR department and enable staff to enter administrative information online.
The overhaul has enabled it to maintain the size of the HR office despite overall staff numbers increasing from 400 to 650 staff in the period.
Ben Virchall, HR director at Pertemps, said that by using Northgate’s MyView technology "we have been able to automate online payslips as well as letters and emails.” He said the department was now able to do “more productive and not just clerical work”.
Pertemps chose the system having used the vendor’s ResourceLink payroll and basic HR solution since 2000. Northgate provided a consultancy service to assist Pertemps in implementing and using the new technology.
The company said it saw potential to expand automation across the department, until “data entry is limited to a small part and most tasks are automated in the system”, according to Virchall.
In the next six months, the company aims to enhancing reporting further although it will continue to input some data on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. It also hopes to automate some parts of its staff personal development reviews.
