The Premier League has turned to hosted email security solution to support communications for officials, clubs and key sponsors.
The organisation behind the elite English football club competition has signed a deal with supplier Webroot to use its software-as-a-service hosted platform.
The agreement is for secure email to allow its employees and management to communicate with football officials, clubs and key sponsors worldwide.
“Email is a significant form of communication for us," said Simon Thunder, head of IT at Premier League.
"As a prominent brand, we are targeted by spammers, often receiving up to 50,000 spam emails a day," said Thunder.
Using Webroot Email Security SaaS, the email users at Premier League are protected against spam, viruses and other external threats, according to Thunder.
"We have instantly seen an improvement in productivity and can now be sure of a highly accurate and secure email filtering service. This is imperative in such a fast moving environment such as ours.”
Thunder added that the Premier League chose the cloud-style system after receiving a free trial that proved to be better than the service provided by its previous supplier.
“Not only have we been impressed by the greater manageability and better protection, but we are delighted by the exceptional customer support, all of which has instilled our own IT team with a renewed confidence in email security,” he said.
