Outsoucer CSC has appointed Sanjiv Gossain vice president and managing director of its UK, Ireland and Netherlands region.
With over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, Gossain joins CSC from Cognizant Technology Solutions where he most recently served as senior vice president.
During his 10 years at Cognizant Gossain held a number of senior positions, including global markets lead for the telecoms and media industry; European head of sales, marketing and strategic engagements; head of Nordics; and managing director of Cognizant UK and Ireland.
Gossain was previously a co-founder of NerveWire, a Boston-based management consulting and systems integration firm (acquired by Wipro), and held senior management roles at Cambridge Technology Partners (now part of Novell), Nokia Telecommunications, and IMLogic (now part of Symantec).
John Maguire, general manager for CSC global sales and marketing and regional operations, said: “Sanjiv’s extensive technology experience, proven management ability and outstanding client relationships will be of great value to CSC, as we build on our next-generation IT transformation and on our success in the region.”
Gossain will report to Maguire. “Sanjiv will be instrumental in establishing CSC’s new regional hub at King’s Cross, London, which will open in May, with leadership, sales and client management functions assigned to it,” added Maguire.
Anthony Miller, an analyst at TechMarketView, said: "When Gossain joined Cognizant its UK revenues were tiny. Under his leadership Cognizant is now a top 20 player in the UK market, with revenues exceeding £600 million.
"CSC UK is much larger, with revenues of over £1 billion, though in decline. Gossain will certainly have his work cut out to turn CSC UK back into any sort of credible growth story."
There has been no announcement as to the current position of Liz Benison who previously occupied the role at CSC, nor as to who will succeed Gossain at Cognizant.
