The long-awaited Fusion Applications from Oracle are now available, the chairman of the UK Oracle User Group has revealed.
There had been rumours circulating last week that the applications were on a ‘controlled release’, which UKOUG chairman Debra Lilley, who has been instrumental in the six-year development of the applications, has now confirmed with Oracle.
General availability of the Fusion Applications had been widely reported as being from Q1 2011, with a common belief in the analyst community that it would be available on 1 June.
“Fusion Apps are available now,” said Lilley. “The terminology used means controlled release, which means Oracle will discuss your skills and your partners to ensure that it’s right for you.
“They still could be relatively selective, but I don’t think they’re going to turn anybody away. If they [organisations] are interested, they should go and have those conversations with Oracle.”
Lilley added that Oracle had not refused any customers access to Fusion Apps in its controlled availability form or for the early adopter programme to “point blank”.
“After working together several organisation had reached the same conclusion as Oracle that it was not right for them at this time,” she said.
Oracle started an early adopter program for Fusion Apps in January, and chose more than 50 customers to take part. These included the Principal Financial Group, which was announced as the first company to go live with the applications in April. They will also be talking about their experience at the Oracle HCM User Group Global Conference in Orlando later this month.
