Mobile app developers are being called to apply for a ‘mission’ to showcase their technologies to leading Silicon Valley brands in the industry, such as Apple, Google and RIM.

The UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is recruiting B2B and B2C companies with “cutting-edge” mobile app strategies to join it at the Multi-Platform App Developer Mission next month in San Francisco.

The aim is to help UK technology businesses a chance to expand internationally.

The four-day event will give app developers the opportunity to share best practices and ideas for success with other experts and other developers. Organisations can also network with peers and promote their own companies to Silicon Valley press and potential partners.

As well as Apple, Google and RIM, other major companies such as PayPal, NetSuite, Salesforce.com will also be on hand to provide master classes.

To be eligible to apply for the mission, companies must be either a UK-based SME or a UK-based mobile app team with fewer than 50 people in a larger company. They must also have at least one mobile app with at least 1,500 downloads and 25 ratings, and include a software developer with C++ or Java and some GUI skills.

The deadline to apply is 20 August 2011, and all applicants will be notified by 25 August 2011. Successful applicants will need to pay £666 as a fee to participate in the mission, which does not include transportation and accommodation costs.

The event will be held at the British Consulate General in San Francisco between 19 and 22 September 2011.
