Michael Dell will be one of the star turns at Salesforce.com’s Cloudforce event in London tomorrow.
The Cloudforce conference has been extended to two days to cope with demand. Some 5,000 IT professionals are set to make it the largest Software as a Service event ever held in the UK.
Michael Dell, making a rare public appearance in the UK, will tell delegates about how his company is adapting to the social and mobile revolution sweeping the industry, and how Dell, has more than 100,000 users on Salesforce’s Chatter tool.
In addition to Dell, Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff will also showcase discussions with Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry, John Douglas, CIO of Burberry and Jane Moran, Global CIO of Thomson Reuters.
The Salesforce.com relationship with Dell is rapidly evolving from a traditional customer-vendor link to that of a strategic partner.
Dell has a global deployment of the Salesforce’s automation system to its global sales operation and Salesforce has built Dell’s partner portal, the Dell Wall. Dell is also porting some of its key applications onto the Force.com platform.
Salesforce.com meanwhile is replacing legacy UNIX hardware with Dell systems and will be the long term hardware provider for Salesforce in its US production data centres
