Metro Bank has launched updates to its internet banking, as part of plans to upgrade customer facing systems.

The new online consumer banking platform will improve ease of use with features including online account opening, card transaction visibility and the ability to cancel and order new cards. The bank has also updated search capabilities to allow customers to find transactions by date, category or keyword.

“Today’s internet banking launch for personal customers will be followed by a new platform for business customers in the coming months,” said chief executive Craig Donaldson. “The bank will also release a mobile app for personal customers in the coming weeks.”

The bank, launched in 2010 as a new market entrant, uses Trusteer’s Rapport browser plug-in to secure customer access to its online banking portal, offering protection against Trojan malware variants such as Zeus/SpyEye.
