Sector skills council e-skills UK has appointed the CEO of Logica, Andy Green, as its new chair.

Green replaces Larry Hirst, who has stepped down after retiring from his role as chairman of IBM EMEA. He had been chair of e-skills for six years.

Prior to his appointment as CEO of Logica in January 2008, Green spent 21 years at BT, where he held several roles including CEO of group strategy and operations, CEO of BT Openworld and CEO of BT Global Services. He has been part of e-skills’ IT and Telecoms Board since 2005.

Logica was the third supplier to reveal that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cabinet Office recently, as part of the government’s attempts to improve efficiency.
