Apple iPhone users in the UK access mobile media more than users of other smartphones, according to new research from ComScore.

According to the report, 75.4 percent of iPhone users accessed email during the month, more than doubling the 35.4 percent usage of other smartphone users. Overall, 93 percent of iPhone users accessed media in January 2009.

Eighty percent of IPhone users accessed news from a web browser on their phone, while 48 percent of other smartphone users did the same activity.

The App Store is popular for iPhone users, according to the survey. Fifty-five percent of users accessed news through an application downloaded from the App Store, while only 22.1 percent of other smartphone users accessed news from a third-party application.

In fact, iPhone users handily beat out smartphone users in every category. Fifty five percent of iPhone users access social networking sites, compared to 29.6 percent of users of other smartphones, and 55 percent of iPhone owners search the web on their phone, almost double the 32 percent of users of other phones.
