Interoute is offering up to 500 Gigabit per second long haul data super channels across its pan-European network, thanks to an optical networking hardware deal with Infinera.
Interoute’s network connects 102 cities in 30 countries, serving every major European national telecoms provider, says the network provider, which also carries the data of governments, universities, research agencies and large enterprises like football body Uefa and broadcaster Eurosport.
Interoute is now using DTN-X switching hardware from Infinera. "The DTN-X system helps us win in the marketplace," said Jonathan Wright, vice president for service provider business at Interoute.
"Speed to deliver services is key in our industry. Infinera's solutions have enabled us to deliver anywhere from 10Gbps to 500Gbps capacity quickly, and allow us to efficiently provision services as the market dictates," said Wright.
The DTN-X system combines OTN (optical transport network) switching and WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) transport technology in the same chassis, which eliminates the cost and complexity of interconnections between discrete WDM and OTN systems.
Infinera hardware can deliver 500Gbps long-haul super-channels using Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) and Infinera's FlexCoherent Processor technology.
