Government procurement agency OGCbuying.solutions has signed a £105m contract extension with managed telecoms services provider Global Crossing.

Under the existing deal, signed in 1996, Global Crossing provides its Managed Telecommunication Service to 90 public sector organisations, with more than 125,000 staff. The extension will take the contract up to the end of 2011.

Public sector MTS users will continue to received managed telephony and data network services but the contract also includes provision of migration capacity for organisations wanting to move to hosted IP telephony or mobile working services.

The deal with OGCbs will allow additional public sector bodies to take up the service.

In March, OGCbs signed a deal giving public sector bodies cut-price access to SAP software and services.
