Giant mutual extends IT contract with Atos Origin

LV=, the mutual investment and insurance group, has signed a four-year contract extension with IT services company Atos Origin, for an undisclosed sum.

LV=, the mutual investment and insurance group, has signed a four-year contract extension with IT services company Atos Origin, for an undisclosed sum.

Richard Rowney, group COO at LV=, the Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society, said that Atos Origin had presented a "competitively priced solution" for the UK's largest friendly society, which boasts 3.6m members.

Atos Origin will continue to provide IT services to support LV=’s policy administration and renewals processes and online applications, as agreed in the original contract signed in 2008.

A spokesperson for Atos Origin said that the contract extension includes improved service levels and more processing capacity.

The company will provide mainframe processing, as well as Linux and Wintel environments for midrange hosting services from its data centres.

Atos Origin also provides application services for reinsurer Munich Re and is the prime system integrator for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
