Utility EDF Energy has extended its £100 million contract with Capgemini for desktop support to provide standardised services for UK sites.
The energy firm, one of the largest in the UK, will continue to use Capgemini for service desk, procurement and managed desktop services including support for email, instant messaging and file sharing for over 20,000 users.
The original three-year outsourcing deal was signed in 2010 in a bid to cut desktop support costs for the firm and has been extended by two years, until the end of 2015.
Gary Rowan, head of Function, Service Management, EDF Energy said: “Capgemini’s collaborative approach and commitment to flexibility were important in order to future-proof the company against developments involving additional services or user numbers, and in view of the EDF Energy investment programme in low-carbon generation.”
Two thirds of EDF’s contracted run services will be delivered by onshore experts as part of Capgemini’s Rightshore delivery model. Some 150 of outsourcer’s staff will be committed to EDF.
