International Beverage, the distiller of Old Pulteney whisky, has placed a £500,000 order with Chelford SAP Solutions to implement an SAP business platform across seven international sites, serving 250 employees.
The beverage group is the international arm of ThaiBev, Thailand’s largest alcohol beverages provider which owns Chang Beer and Old Pulteney whisky amongst other brands.
Chelford, part of the Solarsoft group of companies, will deliver the software within 20 weeks through its 'All-in-One' FastStart implementation programme, which is an out-of-the-box SAP application.
The beverage group expects SAP to streamline its processes, and cut reporting collation times from a minimum of seven days per month to a matter of hours.
The SAP system will replace disparate applications currently in use across sites in the UK, New York and Asia. The legacy systems range from a managed IT service in New York to a separate single server in Thailand or a sole PC in one of the smaller offices.
None of these applications are adequately integrated, making an accurate global view of the company difficult to achieve without labour intensive and time-consuming collation of data.
"SAP will provide us with unprecedented corporate synergy," Alex Freel, IT director at International Beverage, said.
"We have a very tight window between when our period ends and having to produce a final report. All the data from all the divisions – from sales and finance to manufacturing and purchasing – have to be sent to the collation office in Hong Kong, then manually integrated and farmed out throughout the organisation, often with localised versions to accommodate language and currency conversions.
"The whole process typically takes in excess of seven days.”
According to Freel, by replacing individually managed and siloed IT systems across various offices with one standardised system, International Beverage will be able to "vastly speed up the transfer of data from department to department, irrespective of location".
"This will enable us to provide management at all levels with the appropriately detailed view of the company or department performance," Freel said.
"Line managers will be provided with real-time data on their particular strand of the company’s operations, while VPs and above will see how the company is performing overall across all the international divisions. All of this will be achieved within hours rather than days.”
