Diageo, the international drinks business, has selected Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as its new global IT provider.

Diageo brands include Johnnie Walker, JεB, Buchanan’s and Bushmills whiskies, Smirnoff, Baileys, Captain Morgan, Tanqueray and Guinness. The TCS deal will support around 36,000 employees operating in 180 countries. around the world.

TCS will manage Diageo’s global IT infrastructure, data centres and servers, in addition to providing service desk support to employees. Diageo said TCS would support the "swift adoption of future technology trends" and an "enhanced self-serve capability to deliver an improved end user experience".

Diageo had previously outsourced its IT to CSC, who had managed it since 1995. In June 2009, Diageo signed a five-year IT outsourcing deal with CSC for an estimated £17 million. That same year, CSC won a £4 million, four-and-a-half year, SAP deployment contract at Diageo.

Ivan Menezes, chief executive officer of Diageo plc, said: "Working with TCS, I believe that we can make a significant step change in the way that IS supports our 36,000 employees around the world, giving them the freedom and agility to drive growth for Diageo in each of our markets.”

The value of the Diageo/TCS IT outsourcing deal has not been disclosed.
