The British Army has managed to avoid wasting £770 million of expenditure at its headquarters by using business intelligence tools to reduce data errors, integrate disparate sources of data and efficiently allocate manpower.
It used software provided by SAS to highlight inefficiencies in data being collected on over 120,000 army staff, which resides on complex legacy systems.
SAS’ Enterprise BI Server has been used to enhance the army’s data mining capabilities, including correcting errors and de-duplicating datasets, whilst SAS Enterprise Guide has been used to streamline the army’s data analytics and reporting capabilities.
The software provider’s professional services team of domain experts are also working on-site, helping the army to integrate disparate sources of data relating to human resources.
