Britannia Building Society has gone live with a self service human resources module from SAP.

Integration and some customisation of the MySAP software began at the end of 2006 as part of an HR change programme known as PeoplePlus. Under that programme, Britannia wants to provide the systems for managers to help their team members develop in the job.

The self service HR module is part of the PeoplePlus project, which has the aim of providing HR functionality to the company’s 5,000 staff on their Microsoft Windows-based PCs. Britannia has said the move will now start making HR processes more efficient and less paper based.

The programme is also geared towards giving the company more speed in HR application development, after it said it did not have the control it needed when this was outsourced. Prior to 2006 it had a five-year deal with outsourcer ICS, a payroll and HR systems specialist.

Helen Bates, strategy manager at Britannia, said: “Primarily, we wanted to create a single view of our employees and the infrastructure to support them throughout their career.

“Ensuring our people processes are consistent and easy to administer as well as providing access to management information at all levels are just two of the benefits we were looking to achieve.”
