Catering supplier Brakes Group has signed a £50 million, 10-year contract extension with IT services firm Atos Origin.
Under the new contract, Atos Origin will manage all of Brakes’ IT infrastructure and applications, including servers and service desks. It will also manage Brakes’ SAP business support systems for HR, finance and supply chain.
Brakes plans to use new technology including virtualisation and cloud computing over the coming years. The extension builds on an IT contract Brakes originally signed with Atos Origin in 2003.
Tracey Costello, chief information officer at Brakes, said Atos will help the company with "improving service levels", and "increasing our agility and responsiveness". Brakes recently expanded into France and Ireland.
The contract comes as Atos announced its full-year 2009 results, with the company's UK division seeing a 7.4 percent revenue increase to €902 million (£785 million).
Atos also revealed a contract extension to its application support and development contract with Capita Life & Pensions, originally worth £20 million when signed in 2007. It also signed an application management deal for content management at Skills Development Scotland, and a contract with the Department for Work & Pensions for secure online payments services.
