Yahoo chief executive Carol Bartz has hinted that new improvements will be coming to Yahoo Mail.

"We have a billion emails passing through our servers every day. Mail is really important to us and that is why I'm excited about a new mail service," Bartz said at an investor conference Tuesday in San Francisco.

The upcoming new release of Yahoo Mail will have better photo sharing. Bartz would not reveal much more but said, "there's a new Mail coming, it's a lot better, it's wonderful."

Last month, Bartz announced that Yahoo Mail would no longer display ads in certain emerging markets, to better serve (and keep) users with slower Internet connections.

During the investor conference Bartz also described a "wall of shame" for Yahoo products that are not up to par.

She has not pointed fingers at any products in particular, but said she uses Google Maps rather than her own company's mapping service.

"I don't use Yahoo Maps. I use Google Maps," she said.
