Airports authority BAA has signed a five-year outsourcing contract with IT services company LogicaCMG to manage its software.
LogicaCMG will manage more than 400 different applications, including Oracle Enterprise Suite, as well as aircraft stand allocation and staffing.
The IT services firm will deliver support using an onshore and offshore model, working mainly out of its shared services centre in Bangalore, India.
Commenting on the deal, Richard Bundle, BAA's IT director, said: "Through this contract, BAA will be able to achieve a more consistent approach to its IT services and applications across the business. It will allow us to manage our applications at an optimal cost, while maintaining strong service levels."
Around 50 BAA staff will transfer to LogicaCMG under the contract.
BAA owns airports in Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Southampton as well as Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
