Academy group ARK Schools has awarded Civica a five-year contract to provide outsourcing deal worth £17 million.

The aim of the outsourcing deal is to support the growth of ARK as it takes on more academies, as well as enabling cost savings through economies of scale.

ARK, set up in 2004, has 2,500 staff and 14,500 students across ARK’s network of primary and secondary academies in the UK.

Civica will now provide a range of managed IT services including the delivery of email, HR and finance systems, server administration, mobile telephony, storage and device management.

The outsourcer will conduct a review of IT infrastructure across the ARK estate to determine necessary improvements and changes, before supporting new projects and assisting in the set-up of new academies. Onsite IT staff will also transfer to Civica via TUPE following a consultation.

“This agreement underpins our main aim of delivering great teaching and learning that enables our pupils to expand their education horizons, as well as improve university and career opportunities,” said Diana Gerald, chief operating officer, ARK Schools. “We will be able to continue to grow, and invest our resources in the things that matter - improving education for all.”
