Insurance broker Aon is centralising its telecoms management with Azzurri after its outsourcing supplier ended an IT services contract.
Aon, Manchester United sponsor and the UK’s largest insurer, is using Azzurri’s Intelligent Telecoms Expense Management (ITEM) platform to centralise the management of its multiple telecoms suppliers, and consolidate multiple billing feeds from its different providers into one centralised reporting tool.
Until three years ago Aon had an outsourcing contract with a global IT services provider to manage its fixed voice, WAN and telephony infrastructure.
However, said Aon, "for strategic reasons the outsourcer chose to end that support relationship", meaning that Aon had to take over direct responsibility for all supplier bill management.
"This was a significant headache", said Aon, having to deal with a number of major telecoms and data suppliers all involved in providing different services to a large organisation like Aon.
The large and diverse number of business units at Aon all require a "significant amount of internal recharging from their bills", Aon said.
Azzurri was already providing telecoms expense management (TEM) services to Aon’s outsourcing supplier, and they recommended to Aon that Azzurri be considered as their TEM provider.
Aon gave Azzurri a year’s trial "to prove themselves", said Aon. The insurance firm has now decided to renew the contract for a further two years.
Aon also migrated the management of their existing call logging service to Azzurri, which gives Azzurri the ability to incorporate the recharging of costs on a per extension basis into the TEM service. This allows Aon to ensure the correct levels of recharges are made to the individual business units, as well as accurately forecasting telecoms expenditure.
Azzurri is also responsible for making sure Aon uses the most appropriate telecoms suppliers at the right price.
