Allied Irish Bank (AIB) has overhauled its entire storage environment to support its move towards digital banking services.
AIB partnered with Hitachi Data Systems to replace its multi-vendor storage environment, consolidating from 14 storage arrays to four using Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform. The bank has also implemented Hitachi NAS Platform, Hitachi Content Platform Hitachi Command Suite to unify management of its fast growing data requirements.
A dashboard interface also allows IT and other wider parts of the business to view performance of storage systems, helping to reduce time needed to resolve problems from 'days to minutes'.
AIB said that the new storage solution has given it greater visibility into its data, allowing it manage and allocate capacity more easily.
AIB is also aiming to achieve 'considerable' cost savings over the next five years with the storage systems.
"Our partnership with Hitachi Data Systems is in alignment with our commitment to build AIB into a technology-led bank delivering consistent, flexible and cost effective services to our businesses and customers," said Padraic Hamrock, head of infrastructure and technology operations, AIB.
"Migration to the Hitachi Data Systems solutions plays a large part in our IT strategy to build a platform of technology and processes which enable delivery of AIB strategy."
