Deutsche Börse has appointed René Keller as its new group CIO, taking over the responsibilities from Hauke Stars.
He will join the group from software company Mosaic in Dublin, where he is currently COO.
As CIO, Swiss-born IT engineer Keller will be responsible for the stock exchange's applications and architecture, and report directly to Hauke Stars, executive board member of Deutsche Börse.
“I am delighted that Deutsche Börse has attracted Mr Keller, an internationally experienced IT expert for capital market responsibilities,” said Stars.
“His appointment is one more important step in the restructuring of our IT organisation in line with future responsibilities.”
Keller began his career as a programmer at the Swiss Stock Exchange, and has held a variety of IT management roles at UBS and Credit Suisse. He was responsible for Credit Suisse’s securities settlement systems before moving to Swiss Life as CIO.
He will start at Deutsche Börse as CIO from 1 February 2014.
Deutsche Börse has made a number of changes to its IT staff recently, with Yves Baguet, CIO of Clearstream, the post-trade services provider of the group, and the group’s CTO, leaving the company after 19 years.
Richard Green has taken over Baguet’s CIO and CTO responsibilities in the interim.
