Carillion, the global construction and support services company, has signed a ten year IT services and business process outsourcing deal with Wipro.
The global deal covers Carillion’s IT infrastructure and applications, human resources, and finance and accounting BPO services. Wipro says it will also partner with Carillion for new joint business and technology transformation projects around the world.
Richard Adam, group finance director at Carillion, said, “We are looking forward to working with Wipro to develop this strategic partnership, which will help to support the delivery of excellent service for our customers, and open up exciting new business opportunities for both companies.”
John O'Brien, an analyst at TechMarketView, said, "Wipro told us that the contract is one of the largest deals group-wide, and will be one of its top clients in engineering and construction."
He said, "Wipro hasn’t disclosed the value, although we are told it is ‘well above’ $100 million (£60 million) over the next ten years. Wipro is also taking on an undisclosed number of Carillion employees, and will then operate services on a blended onshore/offshore model across multiple locations."
Earlier this month, Carillion said it was deploying a new financial performance management system from Tagetik, to work with its Microsoft-based reporting infrastructure.
Wipro has close to 150,000 employees in its IT services business worldwide.
