Supermarket giant Asda has launched a storefinder service from Multimap on its website.

The proximity search tool allows shoppers to find their five nearest Asda outlets by searching for location or store type. Customers type their town or postcode into the search tool and can also specify particular services that they would like to use, such as delicatessen counters, post office facilities, petrol stations or 24-hour shopping.

Each listing includes top-line details such as opening hours, full contact details, services, facilities and product ranges in addition to a link to a content-rich map, pinpointing the exact location of a store with an ASDA logo.

Richard Ramsden, head of home shopping at Asda, said: “With ever increasing volumes of traffic visiting asda.com every day, our mapping partner clearly had to deliver a robust, easy to manage, user friendly service that provides our customers with a simple method of finding their local Asda store.”

Multimap had been selected because of its strong reputation and Asda’s pervious experience of working with the mapping firm, he added.

In December, Asda announced a £6.8m increase in sales of its own-brand goods over the previous year following the upgrade of its RedSky IT supply chain software.
