TechCrunch asks readers: Should we prosecute hacker?

Share

TechCrunch was hacked earlier this year. The TechCrunch.com site was defaced twice over a two day period and was redirecting for part of that time to a third party site.

Now Garda (police in Ireland) believe they found the guy who did it. TechCrunch is letting you vote: Should they prosecute him or not?

If enough readers vote yes, there could be another Gary McKinnon type battle as the hacker could be extradited to the US for his trial. At the time of writing, 78 percent want to see the hacker prosecuted. That's frontier justice!

Just a side note: TC infamously published confidential documents about Twitter that were leaked to the website - possibly from a hacker. Karma? Ethical conundrum?
