The currency trading platform at Reuters was taken offline for seven hours on Sunday as “emergency maintenance” was carried out after a system outage.
Trading on the Dealing 3000 Matching platform was most affected between British pounds and Australian and New Zealand dollars, since the service was unavailable during key times for those currnecy trades. Euro to US dollar transactions and dollar to yen transactions were not affected.
According to Reuters’ own news service, traders resorted to using the phone and reverted to alternative platforms such as ICAP’s EBS platform to put trades through.
Reuters is still investigating the root cause of the incident.
