Your last chance to keep Britain open is here. As Glyn noted this morning, the UK's Open Standards Consultation closes tonight at midnight in the UK. While you're relaxing today, consider spending a few minutes responding to any of the three parts of the consultation survey - you don't have to answer all the questions or all the three parts. I'm told that as well as being a search for facts and opinions, this is partly a numbers game where a high volume of responses for a particular approach will be significant.

In addition to Glyn's many fine contributions, I have written these articles:

There's useful source material from OSI, FSFE, W3C and FSF:

To get an idea of the vague negativity that the incumbent vendors have been injecting into the process, I also recommend Mark Ballard's most recent article. I saw just the same nit-picking sophistry at work at the final round-table consultation last week in London.

You don't have to be from the UK, and you don't even have to navigate the online surveys. Just writing a polite e-mail to the consultation address saying that you recommend the government policy conform to the OSI Open Standards Requirement would be significant. Please join in!
