UK financial exchange, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) has appointed a web search company to manage search for the first time across its websites.
The two-year agreement with web search specialist InfoSpace Europe
Will be the first time the LSE implements web search functionality its co.uk and com URLs. The search will be powered by InforSpace’s private labelled service, which combines the best results from all the major search engines through advanced metasearch technology.
This new search functionality will enable visitors to the use the LSE websites to search more content within them as well as across all of the main search engines simultaneously, including Ask.com, Google, MSN, Yahoo! This will ensure that more of their user requirements and expectations are met, in the hope of improving site loyalty and usage.
InfoSpace Europe business development director John Thornhill said this was an important deal for the company. "This is the first heavy weight signing in the financial sector,” he said. “Their sites are the first port of call for financial information and services for professionals. We therefore welcome their decision to augment their offering with our powerful web search product.”
