Outsourcing and shared services are modes of working that have become increasingly prevalent in the last few years – the UK has always led the way, but the rest of Europe is following suit.
Spain is increasingly coming under the spotlight as a key outsourcing nation and is quickly catching up with other countries in Western Europe as a user of outsourcing and shared services.
There have been numerous requests from organisations within Spain to have a trade body which can offer guidance in best practice and thrash out the key aspects of outsourcing and shared services.
As a result the NOA is chairing a Financial Shared Service Centre Conference in Barcelona on the 18th September. The event will look at covering key topics such as the improvement of operational and financial efficiency of shared service centres as well as procurement and how best to measure the performance of shared services.
It will be interesting to see what information can be drawn from the event, with organisations such as IBM, EMI Music and Pfizer all looking to give an insight into the shared services market as a whole, as well as a more in depth look into the European industry.
This event highlights the fact that shared services are increasingly becoming a part of daily life for European organisations and it is evident that Spain is looking to further develop its outsourcing industry by enhancing its understanding of best practice in key issues.
Chairing this conference is an exploratory initiative for the NOA regarding the setting up of an NOA Spain in response to the ever growing European outsourcing market.
