Insurance company, Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has signed a three-year contract with BT Global Services to provide its Application-Centric virtual private network service.
The deal will see BT provide the insurance firm with a managed, wide area network across 20 sites worldwide. R&SA will also pilot BT’s MobileXpress mobility platform under the terms of the contract.
Duncan Smith, Royal & SunAlliance's group IS infrastructure manager, said: “As a company with a global presence we need to be able to guarantee the delivery of applications in a consistent, reliable and resilient manner to our internal user communities around the world.
"As such, we saw a clear need to upgrade our network and BT’s Application-Centric VPN solution gives us far greater control so we can prioritise application traffic on our own terms, based on the critical needs of the business as we see them.”
The contract is the insurance firm's second recent managed services deal. In April, R&SA signed a 10-year IT services agreement with IBM to manage its IT infrastructure and provide end-to-end service integration across 40 third-party technology suppliers.
