Nottingham Building Society has installed a high-speed network from Virgin Media Business to support the rollout of new customer service tools.
The new tools that the building society plans to roll out using the 100Mbps network include IP telephony, to boost staff interaction.
In the meantime, the building society said the Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN) has allowed staff to access and share customer information more quickly, speeding up the connections between branches and office sites. The network connects office locations, which includes main head office buildings and a 30-strong branch network, in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.
According to Jack Cutts, head of IT at Nottingham Building Society, the company is primarily a Microsoft and Unix-based organisation. Its main core applications are based on an Oracle database running on a SUN platform.
Cutts added: “We have invested in this network because it allows us to grow, whilst maintaining our high levels of service. With easier access to account information, we will now be able to turn around queries faster and provide a more personalised customer experience.”
