Last year we saw some major M&A activity across the technology industry, with SAP snapping up Utah-based unicorn Qualtrics pre-IPO and IBM buying Red Hat for a staggering $33 billion.

This year promises to be no different, and got off to a fast start with a multi-billion dollar deal closing in February when Twilio bought SendGrid for $3 billion.

According to Deloitte's annual study of M&A activity (pdf), technology was the most optimistic industry when it came to expectations of more deals in 2019, with 73 percent of respondents expecting deal size to increase this year, the highest of any industry.
