Trend Micro Internet Security 2013

Keep your PC safe from harm with this strong all-round security suite

Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2013 is the latest edition of Trend Micro's lower mid-range consumer security suite.

This means the package includes all the usual security tools: a capable antivirus engine, smart firewall, essential web browsing protection, accurate spam filter and so on.

But you also get features which you won't find elsewhere. Like 5GB of online backup space, say. A new tool to restrict your child's access to the web and desktop applications. While elsewhere, there's protection against data theft, as well as a secure file deletion tool, and a System Tuner to revitalise your PC's performance.

And the key new feature this time is Trend Micro's Facebook Privacy Scanner, which at a click will check your Facebook page settings and alert you to any privacy problems (which apps can access your details, who can tag you, see your photos and more).

Please note, the package does omit several features you'll find in Trend Micro's more high-end suites, Maximum Security and Premium Security. There's no Online Guardian to monitor your kids on social networking sites, for instance; no password manager; no free online backup space; and no additional free protection for Windows 8 tablets or Android devices.

If you don't need any of that, though, Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2013 is still a more than adequate security suite with a good range of features, and it's worth taking the trial build for a spin to see what you think.
