The London Borough of Hillingdon is looking to replace its existing desktop infrastructure with a cloud computing model.
In a tender document, Hillingdon Council said that it is looking for email, calendar, document collaboration and management, integrated speech and video conferencing and drag-and-drop collaboration site development tools.
The contract covers up to 3,450 basic licences and up to 500 archiving licences.
The council recently revealed that its IT team spends just 20 percent of its time “keeping the lights on” due to its adoption of virtualisation technologies, which includes virtualised servers, storage and business applications such as its CRM systems.
“We now wish to migrate from the current infrastructure to provide a cloud-based desktop computing infrastructure, which, aside from the locally-installed browser, is free from any client installation or maintenance,” the council stated.
The four-year contract is valued at £663,000.
