UBS and Press Association appoint new CTOs

UBS and the Press Association have appointed new chief technology officers.


Andy Brown will join UBS as CTO on 23 September, reporting to Michele Trogni, the group CIO.

Brown will be responsible for advancing the investment bank’s group architecture, simplifying the application and infrastructure landscape, and improving the quality of UBS’s technical solutions. The bank revealed that it had increased its expenditure on the outsourcing of IT and other services by 20 percent in the second quarter of 2010.

Prior to UBS, Brown was head of global technology strategy and architecture at Bank of America. His 26 years of experience also include a position as CTO of infrastructure at Credit Suisse.

Separately, Andrew Dowsett is has joined the Press Association from Bauer Consumer Media.

As the first CTO at the media company, Dowsett is responsible for IT across the PA Group, which includes internal IT, software development and external service delivery.

He will report directly to the group’s chief executive, Clive Marshall, and will be based in the group’s London office.

At Bauer Media, Dowsett held the position of operations and technology director. Prior to this, he has held senior roles at other media companies, including IT director at EMAP, senior operations manager at EMI and head of creative and technology services at Virgin Media Group.
