Barclaycard has announced that it will cut 350 jobs as it relocates its Glasgow loans office.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that IT jobs will be included.
"There are a number of support roles, which will include IT people [that will be cut]," said the Barclaycard spokesperson, who declined to give any further details.
The cuts follow a three-month staff consultation, which started when the company said it would relocate its Glasgow-based Barclays Partner Finance loan centre to other UK sites since December.
Barclaycard said that the net job loss would be around 50, after the creation of new jobs at its other sites.
The Glasgow office will close by the summer. The loans-processing work currently taking place there will be then transferred to Barclaycard’s secured loans division in Cardiff.
Siemens also announced 4,200 job cuts today, which will have an impact on the company's 3,500 IT staff in the UK.
