Simon Callow has left his role at Aston Martin Lagonda to take up the head of IT post at St Andrew's Healthcare.
Northampton-based St Andrew's Healthcare is the charity which runs St Andrew's Hospital, the largest mental health facility in the UK providing national specialist services for adolescents, women, men and older people with mental illness.
Callow was in charge of the IT estate at the Gaydon-based luxury car manufacturer from March 2012, and recognised in the recent CIO 100 for driving technology change programmes at Aston Martin, which included a continuation of the company's Office 365 deployment to mobile devices to support 'bring your own device' employees. He described being able to persuade the HR department to remove its ban on social media as a "big achievement" at an organisation that is "not a big user of social media".
In September 2013 Callow spoke during the technology stream at the CIO Summit about the challenges of being a relatively small IT shop at a big brand, and discussed how he had put his faith and trust in Microsoft - "a supplier and organisation with proven experience".
Employing over 4,000 people across the UK with more than 95% of its revenue and patients from the NHS, St Andrew's Hospital is one of four Registered Psychiatric Hospitals allowed to function outside the NHS, maintaining its charitable status.
