St Paul’s Cathedral has installed a new electronic point of sale (Epos) system in its shop.

The cathedral, with its famous dome, is a major London tourist attraction and the busy shop sells a wide range of souvenir merchandise.

The new system from Cybertill replaces St Paul’s previous DOS-based Epos system and will give the cathedral shop chip and PIN payment card facilities. The cathedral was also seeking a more intuitive system that would be cost-effective.

The new software is installed on J2 920 PC-based touch screens from specialist manufacturer J2 Retail Systems.

St Paul’s Cathedral retail manager Duncan Smith said: “Having used Epos for a number of years, we knew exactly what we needed.” The Cybertill system would meet the cathedral’s current requirements and help with development of both the shop and e-commerce channels, he added.
