A new framework agreement for public sector organisations purchasing telecom networks will go live next week, government procurement agency OGCbuying.solutions has announced.

It is expected to cover public sector telecoms procurements worth up to £500m over the next four years.

BT, Avaya, Cable & Wireless, Affiniti, Computacenter, Easynet, NEC-Philips Unified Solutions, Siemens, Telewest, Thus and Verizon Business are among the 37 suppliers signed up to the framework deal.

The Telecom Networks framework covers provision of voice calls and lines, infrastructure and connectivity, wireless data infrastructure, networking equipment, internet service provision, structured cabling, third party maintenance and other related services.

The framework agreement incorporates new standards, guidance and model conditions for Next Generation Networks drawn up by the Office of Government Commerce in consultation with government departments and industry bodies.
