PC Tools has launched an online service that will answer security questions about surfing the web.

The PC Tools Doctor's Surgery is run by in-house security expert Dr Michael Greene and offers tips and tricks on staying safe on the web, as well as allowing users to email their security questions to Dr Greene in confidence and receive a response by email.

As well using the website to put their queries to Dr Greene, users can also ask the doctor questions of a more open nature through micro-blogging site Twitter (follow the doctor here).

The security vendor said the site had been launched following the surge of security threats around Valentine's Day.

"The rise of virtual networking has radically changed the way individuals use the internet to interact and search for love. Just as time-poor individuals are increasingly seeking alternative ways and new technologies to find love, cybercriminals recognise this trend and apply more advanced and sophisticated techniques to target the digitally active consumer" said Dr Greene.
