IT solutions provider Logicalis UK has acquired analytics dashboard provider and consultant Trovus to shore up its big data offering.
The deal sees Ed Charvet, managing director of Trovus, appointed to the role of director of information insights at Logicalis UK. Charvet will lead the organisation’s business unit strategy, extending the portfolio of consulting, solutions and managed services, such as the company’s spatial intelligence, wireless and behavioural analytics offerings.
Arnaud Spirlet, head of European markets at Logicalis, said: “Analytics is a crucial element of our offering, since it provides line of business managers with the actionable insight they need to drive business innovation and competitive advantage from disparate business data.
“This acquisition strengthens Logicalis’ position as a leading provider of consulting and solution services in a market that, according to ABI Research, could be worth $114 billion (£76 billion) globally by 2018.”
Charvet said: “Trovus and Logicalis have partnered successfully for some time, giving clients the benefits of both highly focussed business intelligence (BI) consultancy to define the best solution, and the ability to then scale organisation wide using Logicalis’ deep technical resources and global reach.
“The fit is a great one and positions Logicalis perfectly between the pure consultancy firms and the specialist vendors.”
TechMarketView analyst Kate Hanaghan said the move is interesting for two reasons: “Firstly, it demonstrates that Logicalis is serious about deepening its expertise in solution areas where there is strong market interest and an inclination to invest.
“Secondly, the purchase indicates that despite not having a formal UK MD at the moment - the business is currently being run by its head of Europe Arnaud Spirlet following the departure of Mark Starkey - moves are still being taken to evolve the business.”
Trovus customers include Sage, 3M, Eversheds, LexisNexis, FT.com, Cisco and IBM. The value of the acquisition has not been confirmed.
